What are Strengthening Exercises?
Strengthening exercises are exercises which are designed to increase the strength of specific or groups of muscles. Strengthening exercises overload the muscle until the point of muscle fatigue. This force and overload of a muscle encourages the growth, increasing the strength. Weak muscles can increase the risk of injury to the surrounding joints and soft tissues.
Strengthening exercises will include a variety of exercises designed to target specific groups or individual muscles. These exercises will begin easier and progress as strength is developed. Some of the exercises may involve the following:
- Exercising against gravity
- Exercising against the resistance of water
- Exercising against a resistance band
- Exercising with weight
- Enhances physical performance
- Exercising using your own body weight as the load

What Our Clients Say
Facility and staff were amazing. They welcomed our son in and made him feel at home while providing him with the tools necessary to help him overcome a back injury and get back on the baseball field for his sophomore year. I highly recommend Larry Bryant and staff for all physical therapy needs. I have been a client since 2014 at which time I had my first of many surgeries. I started out with back surgery where my L 4 was fused with my L 5. I went through about two months of PT on my back and fully recovered from it. Then later in same year, I had my first knee replacement, followed by the other knee the following year. Then two carpel tunnel surgeries. Each time after each surgery, I underwent PT and received excellent care from Larry Bryant.
I can’t say enough about this facility which enabled my body to recover 100%. At present, I am walking so much better and I have no joint pain anywhere!
All of his staff are very competent in what they do.
I still patronize them, as I am part of his “WELLNESS” club in which I still can work out and use the machines that I used in my PT. This is key in keeping my body flexible and in excellent working condition!
Thank you Larry, Mike and Brett and your staff for ALL you do for ALL your patients!!
